How Can You Tell if You are an Old Soul -www.facebook.com/WiccanPosts
Are there differences in traits or behaviors? What signs can I look for that can help me differentiate the difference?
Generally speaking, we are all old souls, but some of us have been here longer than others.
The word “old” is only relative to time. Because time is linear and our souls are eternal, 10,000 years would be the blink of an eye.
Many believe that we need to incarnate many, many times as inanimate objects, plants and animals before we can become human. Then, as humans, we still need to incarnate many, many times to learn all of the lessons we came here for. For example, we all had to be an air molecule and a drop of water to learn what it’s like to work together as ONE.
So, how can you tell if you have an old soul?
You understand many of life’s deeper lessons.
For some people, it is hard to fathom that the soul of a child may be much older than the soul of his or her parents. For these particular people, this is a sign that their soul might be younger than yours. When you begin to understand why you keep incarnating to this 3rd dimensional reality, it becomes similar to the movie, Groundhog Day, where Phil wakes up each day to find out that it’s still February 2nd until he learns how to remove his ego and starts doing kind deeds for others.
Once you realize that time, space, energy and matter are 3rd dimensional products, the theory of time becomes irrelevant, thus the theory of how old your soul is also becomes irrelevant.
But for the sake of understanding how old your soul may be, we’ll continue!
You are in touch with your natural abilities or have an extreme interest in these abilities.
Some people are born with innate gifts, such as special healing abilities or psychic abilities. The truth is that we all possess these abilities, but an older soul is more in tune with how to access and implement these abilities in the name of humanity. If you don’t have any particular ability, but have a strong interest in them, this is simply your soul trying to recall these abilities that you may have had in a previous lifetime.
You become spiritually aware.
Everyone is pure consciousness, but many people have a difficult time understand what this means. Your soul is pure consciousness and love. It has a unique understanding of how the matrix is being played on this planet and understands that everything we do as a collective will help to facilitate the awakening of others.
You understand the importance forgiveness.
Some people are old souls who still have much to learn because they are trapped inside the box with their ideologies, are stubborn or have not learned the importance of forgiveness. By forgiving yourself and others, we can release any karma between these people.
You’re able to transcend ego.
It’s nearly impossible for anyone to completely transcend ego 100% of the time but simply being aware of our ego and how it plays against unity consciousness is a definite sign on an old soul. On the other side, there is no ego. During your life review, you will re-live your ego and will see how it affected others, as well as yourself. At this point in “time”, you will probably make a soul contract with the hopes of overcoming ego and atoning for whatever ego issues you had in your previous incarnation.
You’re able to transcend materialism.
Money and materialism are products of this 3rd dimensional reality and it’s easy to succumb to materialism, especially when it’s in your face through advertising, programming and peer pressure. An older soul realizes that money is non-existent on the other side and it generally takes away from who we truly are as spiritual beings. Those who are older souls will generally use money as a tool to either help facilitate their spiritual progression through spiritual retreats or by possibly creating a lavish feng shui home decorated with spiritual meaning versus the most luxurious furnishings. They may also use their money to help others who are less fortunate.
You are able to understand the concept that your body is a shell for your soul.
Before you were born, you not only chose your parents, you also chose your life situations and challenges that would help to facilitate your spiritual growth while atoning for any previous karma. The body that you are currently in is simply a vessel for your soul. Your name is what your soul currently refers it as, but in previous lifetimes, you had many different names and you have lived many previous lives as either a male or a female. Your name and title are both associated with ego because ultimately, you are infinite consciousness and we are all on the same team.
You seem to have a special connection to eras long before you were born.
Did you ever watch an old movie or see some artwork from a specific era in time and have a connection to that era? Chances are, you lived a previous life during that time period and this is your cellular memory letting you know!
You have an understanding of what you need to do to complete your spiritual progression.
Just by making it this far, you are more awakened than most people on this planet. You have an understanding of Universal laws and what is left to do on your soul contract. Even if you are not specifically sure of either, your higher self and spirit guides will continue lead you in the right direction.
You have a strong feeling that home isn’t Earth.
Did you ever look at a random area of the sky and star at an unknown star for no particular reason? Do you have a special connection with specific star systems such as the Pleiades or Orion’s Belt? Do wars and corruption make you feel uneasy, as if they didn’t exist where you originally came from? Are you one of the souls who volunteered to come here at this specific point in time to help with the Earth’s ascension? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then chances are, Earth is not your home planet.
You tend to be a loner.
The stigma on the word loner is often condescending, but those who are old souls are merely looking for other fragments of themselves and will often distance themselves from younger souls who need more incarnations into a 3rd dimensional planet. Older souls will seek out other like-minded people because there’s a comfort and familiarity with these types of people who will help to facilitate each other’s spiritual progression.
You have a rebellious nature.
Whether you rebel from religion, laws or anything else, this is a sign that your soul knows the only true laws… the Laws of the Universe. While you respect the reasoning and intention behind laws and religion, you might not be compelled to use these as absolute laws when you know there are a set of higher laws that are intended to facilitate our spiritual progressions.
You have a burning desire to attain truth and inner wisdom.
Many older souls can easily see through the lies we’ve been taught through religion, politics and through our educational facilities. While they realize they are all one with the universe, they also want the truth exposed to help other people’s awakening process. They also continue to seek knowledge in the spiritual, metaphysical and esoteric fields and will absorb this information much easier than anything they were taught in school.
You are not controlling of others.
Older souls are more accepting, not just of other people, but of circumstances as well. For example, while you don’t approve of the corruption within politics, you understand how the corruption will help to awaken other people to the truth. You respect the free will of others and are more likely to use tact than verbal demands of others. You tend to be more of a team player than anything else.
You sense a separation between yourself and the “real world”.
As you transcend ego and materialism, you find yourself living a different lifestyle. While this lifestyle is unique to your current incarnation, there also seems to be a familiarity of the direction you’re heading.
You are curious whether you’re an old soul or not.
Many young souls wouldn’t ask this question or much less be concerned about it. While many older souls aren’t concerned either, for different reasons, they simply “know” they’re old souls, but it’s nice to have affirmations that coincide with your spiritual progression.
There are many lessons we have learned throughout our lifetimes, all of which has culminated into this particular incarnation. All of your previous life incarnations are embedded into your cellular memory and can be recalled through past life regressions. Most of the people on this planet are old souls, yet many remain unawakened and still have a lot more to learn and will need several more incarnations to a 3rd dimensional planet.
Many of those who are awakened will probably move on to their next level of spiritual progression. It’s important to remember that this is not a race because in the end, we all win. Enjoy every millisecond in this incarnation because this may be the last time you’ll ever experience a 3rd dimensional reality!

Book of Shadows
The Book of Shadows (BOS) is used to store information you'll need in your magical tradition. Many Pagans and Wiccans feel a BOS should be handwritten, but some use a computer to store information as well. Bear in mind that a BOS is considered a sacred tool, which means it is an item of power that should with all of your other magical tools. Copy spells and rituals into your BOS by hand – this will not only transfer energy to the writer, but it also helps you to memorize the contents. Make sure you write legibly enough that you’ll be able to read your notes during a ritual!
|
This is my personal BOS, as I have stated in the
above, a Book of Shadows is YOUR special book to hold Rituals etc.

Ceremony of Remembrance- ~“The Ultimate Book of Shadows for the New Generation, Solitary Witch” by Silver RavenWolf
WHEN TO PERFORM: This is entirely up to you and should be done when you feel ready. Some covens prefer the full moon, where others find the new moon more appropriate. If you are really into magickal timing, you might want to think about the following:
1. When the moon is in Pisces (ruled by Jupiter and Neptune; both are considered spiritual energies).
2. In the hour of Jupiter, Venus or the moon.
3. On Monday (the moon) or Thursday (Jupiter) or Friday (Venus).
SUPPLIES: A bell (or drum) ; a candle (of the person’s favorite color) for the altar; eight votive candles for the positions of the eight holidays on the Wheel of the Year.; a needfire candle (which will be the first lit); the deceased’s favorite flowers; a picture; a cauldron; a bottle of holy water; the person’s favorite drink and favorite food. Have a box of tissues handy (it is perfectly healthy to cry). Music, if you think this is appropriate. If possible, dress in white. Make a list of your deceased relatives and friends. Optional: Illuminator candles.
PREPARATION: Cleanse the room with the four elements. Set up the altar with your choice of tools. Set the cauldron (for transformation) in the center of the circle or the altar. Place the flowers, candle to the deceased, fire candle, picture, and food on your altar or on a table. Place the votive candles in their appropriate places around the room (you can put place cards by them if you forget which holiday goes where), or you can place everything on a large table (like a dining room table), turning the table itself into the altar. Devote the altar through prayer, light the fire candle, then mix the energies on the altar with your hands. Seal with an equal-armed cross.
THE RITUAL: Light illuminator candles. Cast your magick circle and call the quarters. If there are others in the room, stand in a circle holding hands. Invoke the Lord and Lady using any of the invocation that you prefer or have written yourself.
Stand in front of the picture and say:
“As the sacred Wheel of the Year spins slowly, blessing us with the gifts of transformation, so does the cycle of life, death, and rebirth also turn, allowing us to fulfill our destiny.”
Say the person’s name three times loudly. Then say:
“Even though you have gone beyond the veil, we know that we can send these blessings to you.”
Light each of the sabbat candles, repeating the name of the sabbat aloud, and the saying a gift that you are sending to the loved one–such as love, peace, harmony, rest, happiness, safe journey, and so on–with the flame of that candle, with the following procedure: Light the Yule candle from the fire candle. Carry the fire candles clockwise around the circle and place on the altar. Stand in front of the Yule candle and give the Yule blessing (below), then light the Candlemas candle from the Yule candle. Carry the Yule candle around the circle in a clockwise direction and replace in the Yule position. Stand in front of the Candlemas candle, give the blessing, the move to the Ostara candle and so on. In this way each sabbat candle is lit from the last beginning with Yule and moving around the circle in a clockwise direction, which builds the energy to send to the deceased. Blessings might include:
YULE: May the love of the divine be with you.
CANDLEMAS: May your guide light your journey.
OSTARA: May you find joy in your rebirth.
BELTANE: May you receive our love and blessings.
MIDSUMMER: May you find wisdom and empowerment.
LAMMAS: May you find forgiveness for all things.
MABON: May you be purged of all unhappiness.
SAMHAIN: May you rest in peace.
Pick up the Samhain candle and stand before the altar. In your own way, ask Spirit to carry your blessings to the individual. In the case of a pet, you might also ask that the spiritual caretaker of animals also be present to ensure the safety of the animals’ spirit. Say the deceased’s name three times, then light the pillar candle in front of their picture with the Samhain candle, and envision all the energy and blessings built into the ritual being released into their arm.
If you wish to move the deceased individual into the realm of your personal ancestral dead, you will now make the first offering by verbally listing your lineage and adding the person’s name to the list. Each time you say a person’s name, you will sprinkle holy water into the cauldron. If you do not wish to add them to your ancestral pantheon, you will still state the names of your ancestors but you will not add the deceased person’s name–you will say their name later. If you are facilitating this ceremony for someone else (say the family of a friend), they need to give you a list of beloved friends and family who have passed away. It is this list you would intone during this portion of the ritual. The litany might go as follows:
“I honor my great grandfather, Harold Crossing.
I honor my great grandmother, Mabel Crossing.
I honor my great grandfather, Charles Taylor.
I honor my great grandmother, Lucy Taylor.
I honor my grandmother, Christine Crossing.
I honor my grandmother, Louise Taylor.
I honor my uncle, Patrick Taylor.
I honor my pet, Joey.
I honor the Lord and Lady
May they continue to bless the living as well as the dead.”
Add the deceased’s favorite drink to the cauldron, honoring the newly deceased (this would be a second time you said their name if you added them to the ancestral pantheon). For example, “I honor my friend, Randy Boyer. May Spirit carry this actor of honor to him. So mote it be.”
When you are finished, thank Spirit(and the caretaker of pets, should the deceased be an animal), release the quarters, and then release the circle. Lay the food and flowers outside. Pour the contents of the cauldron on the ground. If you can, allow the candle(s) to burn completely out.

The Solitary Craft
Solitary Witchcraft is one of the largest and most wide-reaching paths to have been born from Wicca. It is a varied and dynamic Tradition in its own right and is practiced in numerous different ways by a great number of people world-wide.
For some people, Solitary Witchcraft is a form of personal practice that allows a person to gain some experience of the Craft until they are able to find and join a coven. For others it is their central path and the best way for them to practice.
It is our hope that the simple outlines provided here will give a greater understanding of this myriad Tradition, whether you are just curious or seeking to take it up for yourself. Either way, Solitary Witchcraft offers the practitioner a unique and personal relationship with magic and the Gods.

Depression Relief Spell
You will need:
white candle, black marker with wide felt tip, kunzite or blue agate, lemon balm,
lemon oil, and cloth pouch
Begin by completely coloring the candle black with the marker to symbolize the
depression that presently encases you. Light the candle & say:
"Flame cut through depression, deep. Melt it down & make it weep.
Grant me power to re-emerge, From its grip, I leap & surge."
Watch the candle burn until white wax appears at the flame.
Rub a bit of lemon oil into the stone & say:
"Kunzite/agate, stone of mellow hue,
Dissolve the depression, I beg of you.
Take its power & transform its strength.
Into positive energy I can use at length."
Lightly rub the stone against your temples & your heart, then place it in front of the candle &
sprinkle it with lemon balm. Let the candle burn completely.
Place the stone & herb in the cloth pouch & carry it with you.
When your spirits need a lift, re-anoint the stone & repeat its empowerment chant.
Also suggest that you meditate. It helps make you calmer and be able to see things in a clear light.

Psychic Abilities - Types
There are different kinds of psychic abilities. Some people are able to divine the future. Others receive messages from the spirit world. A few may be able to read the thoughts of others, or see "auras" that tell them how the person is feeling.
• Precognition is the ability to know the future. For some people, it's very definite messages, like "You're going to go to a café and meet a dark-haired man." For others, it may be more vague, such as, "Someone close to you is about to experience a major change."
• Intuition, or intuitiveness, is the ability to just “know” things without being told. Many intuitives make excellent Tarot card readers, as this skill gives them an advantage when reading cards for a client. This is sometimes referred to as clairsentience.
• Clairvoyance is the ability to see things that are hidden. Sometimes used in remote viewing, clairvoyance has occasionally been credited for people finding missing children and locating lost objects.
• Empathy is the ability to sense the feelings and emotions of another person. Someone who is an empath often needs to learn to shield themselves from the energies of others, or they may find themselves feeling drained and exhausted.
• A medium is someone who gets messages from the spirit world. This can take many forms - some mediums can see and hear actual spirits; others receive messages via dreams or visions. Some can even "channel" the spirit, who may then write or speak through the medium.

Sleep Candle Spell
Take a white household candle silently.
Walk counterclockwise around your bedroom three times.
As you do this, project simple protective phrases into the walls, floors, and windows such as:
"keep me safe" etc.
Next, walk clockwise three times in silence, meditating on positive, restful phrases.
Finally, blow out the candle, whisper the word "sleep" and turn in for the night.
Note that this spell does not need to be repeated to continue working.
Instead, simply light the candle for a few minutes each night, then whisper "sleep" again
before getting into bed. When the candle is completely spent, repeat the original spell
with a new white candle.

A Candle Spell to Bring Back Lost Love
Candle magic is an old and powerful form of sympathetic magic. It is also one of the simplest types of magic to use for casting spells.
Candle magic can be simple or complicated, just as relationships can be. While you are free to customize this spell to make it as beautiful and complex as you please, that is not necessary to win back the affections of the one you love.
Natural beeswax or soy candles are preferred over petroleum-based candles, but you're not destined to a long, lonely life if you can't find that type. Any kind of candle will work - just make sure that it's never been burned.
Choose a red candle for passionate love, a pink candle for romantic love or a white candle for all goals. Once you have selected your candle, charge it with your specific intent: to open the person's heart to you, to make you and your situation more attractive in the person's eyes, to make the circumstances so that the environment is right for the person to love you again, to open their eyes to the truth of a situation ... be very clear as to the result you want.
Once you have charged your candle you are ready to cast the spell and clear the way to reunite with your special someone.
You will need:
In addition to your charged candle, you will need seven thorns from a red rose bush. If you do not have rose thorns, use straight pins.
Instructions:
(1) Prepare yourself for the spell by clearing your area and your mind. Relax and hold the candle while visualizing the desired outcome - your love running back into your arms, for example - as you send your energy from your hands into the candle.
(2) Carve the name of your love onto the candle using the tip of your athame, a knife, a nail or a pin, visualizing your love returning to you as you do so. Push the rose thorns or pins into the letters of your love's name.
(3) Anoint the candle using virgin olive oil, continuing your visualization, and then place the candle in its holder.
(4) Light the candle and continue to visualize the outcome as you think about the results you desire. Really see your love coming back to you, and concentrate only on that. Focus all your energy on the result as you watch the candle burn for a period of time.
(5) Repeat this chant three times: Powers of the universe / Bring ________ (first name) back to me / This is my will / So mote it be!
(6) Allow your candle to burn out or extinguish it safely.
Another spell you can recite as your candle burns down is: Bring back the love that I know, / With his/her return, our love shall grow. / Universe bring him/her back to stay, / Let our love grow stronger day by day.
If you cast a candle spell to bring back lost love, you're making your wishes known to the universe. Always remember that your spell must never interfere with the free will of the person, no matter how much you miss him or her.

Empaths
Empaths are poets in motion. They are the born writers, singers and artists who possess a high degree of creativity and imagination. They are known for many talents as their interests are varied, broad and continual. They are loving, loyal and humorous.
They often have interests in many cultures and view them with a broad-minded perspective. They are mother, father, sister, brother, child, friend, doctor, nurse, caregiver, teacher, psychic, clairvoyant, healer and more.
That is not to say that all those in any given category are empaths. The list is extensive and really unimportant. What is important to notice is that empaths are everywhere - in every culture and throughout the world.
Empaths may be highly expressive in all areas of emotional connection. They may speak openly, and, at times, quite frankly in respect to themselves. They may have few problems talking about their feelings.
Yet, they can be the exact opposite: reclusive and apparently unresponsive at the best of times. They may even appear ignorant. Some are very good at blocking out others and that's not always a bad thing, at least for the learning empath overwhelmed and struggling with a barrage of emotions from others, as well as their own feelings. Perhaps even fighting their gift.
Empaths have a tendency to openly feel what is outside of them more so than what is inside of them. This can cause empaths to ignore their own needs.
In general an empath is non-violent, non-aggressive and leans more towards being the peacemaker. Any area filled with disharmony, drama and stress creates an uncomfortable feeling in an empath. If they find themselves in the middle of a confrontation, they will endeavor to settle the situation as quickly as possible, if not avoid it all together. If any harsh words are expressed in defending themselves, they will likely resent their lack of self-control, and have a preference to peacefully resolve the problem quickly.

This will help when you're feeling ill or down!
Use this when you are sick or just not feeling well.
You will need:
A white candle
Sea salt
A healing oil of your choice, such as carnation, violet, sandalwood or narcissus
Instructions:
Light the candle, and by the candle’s light run a tub of very warm water.
Cast some salt into it. Add a few drops of healing oil of your choice and then step into the bath. Relax.
Feel the warm salted water sinking into your pores, through your skin, sterilizing and healing the sick portions of your body.
Visualize the sickness leaving your body and entering the water. When you feel that the sickness has entered the water, pull the plug and let the water drain out.
Stay in the bath while it is draining and chant:
"The sickness flows out of me,
Into the water, into the sea."
Wait until the tub is completely drained before you stand up.
Then take a shower to remove the last traces of the sickness–laden water.
Repeat as needed to speed your body's recovery.

Today is Earth Day!
Have you ever wondered how Earth Day started? This observance arose from an interest in gathering national support for environmental issues. In 1970, San Francisco activist John McConnell and Wisconsin Senator Gaylord Nelson separately asked Americans to join in a grassroots demonstration.
McConnell chose the spring equinox, 21 March 1970, and Nelson chose 22nd April. Millions of people participated. Today, Earth Day continues to be widely celebrated with events on both dates. The most common practice of celebration is to plant new trees for Earth Day.
Here are some ideas for how you can celebrate Earth Day today and every day:
☆ Plant wildflowers
☆ Plant trees and shrubs that are native to your area
☆ Plant herbs and flowers that attract butterflies
☆ Plant an organic vegetable garden
☆ Conserve water (shower with a friend!)
☆ Initiate a dialog with your friend and coworkers about sustainability
☆ Pick up trash
☆ Attend a rally and show your support for keeping our water and air clean
☆ Take your children to a zoo, an aquarium or a park and impress upon them our responsibilities to animals and the Earth
☆ Take public transportation or ride your bike to conserve energy
☆ Sign-up for a neighborhood clean-up project or create your own
☆ Go online and look for Earth Day activities in your community and then go participate in one
☆ Buy your fruits, vegetables and honey at a farmer's market rather than at a large chain store
What other ideas do you have?
Keep me posted!
